On July 30, 2017, a beloved angel named Alice Myrtle Florence passed quietly from this life to the next. She was a bright light of love that began shining 60 years ago. Alice was born to the home of Jerry and Alice Florence in Ritzville, Wash. Little Alice was born with mental and physical challenges. The doctor told the parents she would never learn to talk or walk and recommended an institution.

WALLACE— The Shoshone County Drug Task Force (SCDTF) seized nearly 200 marijuana plant on Monday after executing a search warrant on a Wallace home.

AVERY— The Idaho Panhandle National Forest will be issuing a temporary road closure on Forest Service Road #301, Fishhook Creek, in Shoshone County on the St. Joe Ranger District due to fire activity from the Roundhouse Fire. Rocks, trees, and other debris from the fire area are falling into the roadway and pose a threat to public safety.

Mayor's corner

Work is proceeding as planned with the City of Kellogg’s Sewer Rehabilitation and Replacement Project. Main-line crews working on Phase II of the project are moving East on Cameron Avenue from Chestnut Street and North on Chestnut Street off Cameron Avenue. Service work in these same areas will follow. Once sewer work is completed, work will begin to install new water lines.

Feeling the heat at Silver Hoops 2017

At times it was windy, at times tempers flared, the whole time it was scorching hot, but 24th annual Silver Hoops Basketball tournament was the biggest and best edition of the event to date.

Fireman's festival a blast!

The 47th annual Mullan Fireman’s Fun Festival brought in roughly 500 people to the small Idaho town over the weekend to put some of the locals fire fighting skills to the test!

Logging machines destroyed in Tiger Gorge fire

OSBURN­— In the early hours of July, 28, firefighters from Shoshone County Fire District No.1 (SCFD1) responded to a report of two logging machines on fire roughly four miles north of Wallace.
