| May 15, 2020 9:55 AM

Shoshone County Sheriff Darrell Michael (Mike) Gunderson is running uncontested to retain his current position in this year’s election cycle. In his second term, he plans to continue to be transparent and build a working relationship with the community.

“I have a strong working administration that continues to develop trust and positive working relationships with our staff and community,” he said.

He is married with three children — Richard, 28, Austyn, 21, and Rylie, 19.

Gunderson says that he has been in law enforcement since 1991 and holds Basic, Intermediate and Management POST Academy certifications. He also has attended the Basic and Advanced Narcotics Academies offered by the DEA, FBI Command College, and has completed the U.S. Customs certification course.

As for relevant schooling, he is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Center’s criminal investigators course.

On top of all that, Gunderson has several hundred hours of management and leadership training, with many years of service spent managing the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office.

In the next four years, his priorities include increasing narcotics enforcement and the presence of law enforcement throughout Shoshone County.

“I have been able to add two drug detection K-9’s to our team and will continue to work with all law enforcement agencies to deter and investigate all crimes in Shoshone County.”
