LEGAL NOTICE FOR ST. JOE RANGER DISTRICT November 243, 2020 Submitted by St. Joe Ranger District The St. Joe Ranger District is interested in your comments on upcoming grant applications to the State of Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. The St. Joe Ranger District is applying for grants to pay for trail maintenance and restoration as well as improvements to Shadowy St. Joe and Tin Can Campgrounds. Grant proposals for trails work include general log out of single- track multiple use trails, maintenance and heavy trail restoration work in the Big Creek, Slate Creek, and the North Fork of the St. Joe River drainage. In addition, we will be opening up a new OHV< 50 inch trail in Norton Creek. All of the proposed trails are in need of brushing, clearing fallen logs, drainage repair, drainage structures, tread work and sign replacement to alleviate trail hazards. The St. Joe Ranger District has been very successful at getting these funds. A couple examples of completed work funded by grants (summer 2020) are: successful restoration of the upper mile of the Snow Peak Trail 55 and Bronson Meadows Trail 155 which had a full restoration and rebuild of hazardous switchbacks. ; one of the latest examples of our trail work can be seen on Bronson Meadows Trail 155 (leaving from the end of the Big Creek Road) which had a full restoration and a rebuild of hazardous switchbacks this past summer 2020.
