George Dancer, 86

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, George Dancer, 86, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away Sept. 3, 2020, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was born May 2, 1934, in Ruddy Gulch, Idaho. George was the son of George and Christine (Sydnes) Dancer.

George was born and raised in the Silver Valley and has called it home all of his life. George owned and operated an auto body shop in Osburn for many years. He later worked for East Shoshone Water District before officially retiring.

On July 19, 1952, George was united in marriage to Darlene Sampont at the St. Alphonsus Church in Wallace, Idaho. Together they raised three sons.

George was very active in his community spending time in the Osburn Lions Club, Wallace Elks and the St. Alphonsus Church Council. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, beekeeping, gardening and woodworking.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Darlene Dancer; two children, Dan (Kim) Dancer and Michael Dancer; eight grandchildren; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys and Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gene Dancer; grandson Luke Dancer; and George’s siblings, Grace, Donald, Harold, Dolly, Beverly and Jenavie.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, at the St. Alphonsus Church in Wallace, with Father Montes serving as Celebrant.
