33-year-old man killed by train

The Bonners Ferry Police Department and Idaho State Police are investigating a Union Pacific train-versus-pedestrian collision that proved fatal and occurred in the early evening hours of Friday, Nov. 26, near the Boundary County fairgrounds in Bonners Ferry.

The UP train was traveling southbound on its mainline track at about 6:09 p.m. when a 33-year-old male ran across the tracks and into the train's path.

Though not yet complete, early conclusion of the investigation suggests the collision was accidental.

Positive identification of the 33-year-old victim has been made and next of kin are in the process of being notified. Additional details will be available upon completion of the investigation.
