| October 21, 2021 8:15 AM

Fonda Jane (Flanigan) Liepold, 80, passed away peacefully on Oct. 14, 2021, at Sacred Heart Hospital following a brief illness. Fonda was born June 30, 1941, in Kellogg, Idaho, to Helen (Reece) and Donald “Pat” Flanigan.

She graduated from Kellogg High School in 1959. After her graduation and attending college, she married Robert (Bob) Liepold in 1961.

They spent their first summer as husband and wife atop a fire lookout at Frost Point in the Coeur d’Alene National Forest while Bob worked for the Forest Service. They also briefly lived in Sweet Home, Ore., before returning to Spokane. Fonda spent her career in banking and in executive secretarial positions. Many of her customers and co-workers became lifelong friends.

Bob and Fonda had two children, Teri (Switzer) and Tim. Fonda loved boating and camping in North Idaho and spending time with family and friends. She was a member and officer in the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, serving as Irish Woman of the Year in 1994 and took part in many St. Patrick’s Day Parades. She was also a long-standing member of the Suburbanites. Although Fonda faced health challenges throughout her life, she adapted to them as no other, with her quick wit and easy smile.

She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob); brother Pat Flanigan and wife Dodie; daughter Teri and son-in-law Kevin Switzer; son Tim and daughter-in-law Jamie; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

At Fonda’s request, no funeral service is planned, but a gathering of friends and family will be held at a later time.
