The duties of our County Clerk

| September 30, 2021 9:47 AM

To enlighten the public of the duties of our County Clerk. The “elected” County Clerk has 5 distinctive titles:

• Clerk of the District Court

• Auditor

• Recorder

• Clerk of the board of county commissioners

• Chief Elections Officer of the County

DUTIES AS EX-OFFICIO AUDITOR

The Auditor acts as the County Budget and Accounting Officer. Responsibilities include compiling the budget requests and submitting the budget to the Board of County Commissioners, recording appropriations made to county agencies, the outstanding liabilities against these appropriations and the expenditures made against the appropriations; keeping accounting records on the revenues, expenditures and balances in each county fund. The Auditor also prepares and remits warrants/checks to employees, vendors, and other persons entitled to payment. All money received by various county offices are recorded in financial records.

As the Auditor Clerk of Shoshone County, the Clerk and her deputy clerks play a huge role in maintaining records of courts and financials. The accuracy is important and high priority during audit times and determining the budget for each year. Many hours through out the year are spent by Tamie Eberhard, Shoshone County Clerk and her staff to obtain these goals. All necessary reports are provided for the Commissioners when they are in attendance.

This is a small fraction of detail that the Shoshone County Clerk, Tamie Eberhard and her deputies provide for the County. That requirement far exceeds a two-cent input.
