WSD registration information

WALLACE — The Wallace School District (WSD) has released some of its key dates for getting students registered for the upcoming school year.

• For students attending Silver Hills Elementary School in Osburn (K-6), registration for new students is Aug. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

New students need proof of immunization as well as age.

Returning students do not need to register, unless their home address has changed.

According to a release from the WSD, classrooms will be assigned on the first day of school.

Students registering for kindergarten must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1 of this year, while students entering first grade must be 6 years of age on or before Sept. 1 of this year.

Any 5-year-old child who has completed a private or public out-of-state kindergarten for the required 450 hours, but has not reached the school age requirement in Idaho shall be allowed to enter the first grade.

• Students attending Wallace Jr./Sr. High School will be registering for the upcoming school year on Aug. 24 and 25.

Returning freshmen (9-10 a.m.), eighth-graders (10-11 a.m.) and incoming seventh-graders (11 a.m. to noon) will all be done on Aug. 24 in the gymnasium. Seniors (9-10 a.m.), juniors (10 -11 a.m.) and sophomores (11 a.m. to noon) will be on Aug. 25.

Students who are new to the WSD will need to make an appointment for a full new student registration and will need immunization records and proof of age.

Activity cards will be available to purchase for $16 for all students, however, new WSD students and incoming seventh-graders will also need $20 for their book deposit. All fees must be paid at the time of registration.

• Students at both schools will have breakfast provided for them at no charge beginning on the first day of school.

Free and reduced lunch information can be obtained by contacting the school office, but the standard price for free hot lunch is $2.75 per day, and extra milk is $.38.

• The first day of school for students in the Wallace School District is Sept. 1.

Classes at Wallace Jr./Sr. High School begin each morning at 8:05 a.m. and run through 2:55 p.m.

Classes at Silver Hills Elementary School begin each day at 8:15 a.m. and run through 3:10 p.m.
