ST. MARIES — An error by Kellogg on a bunt allowed Lyssa Watkins and Danika Sloper to score with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting St. Maries past the Wildcats in the first game of a Central Idaho League doubleheader at the on-campus Potlatch Deltic Field.
Watkins walked, and Sloper was hit by a pitch to open the seventh, moved up on a ground out, and scored on the error on Kendra Nicholson’s bunt.
Mia Asbury hit a two-run triple in the third inning for St. Maries. Watkins hit a two-run single in the fourth. Charlie McDaniel hit a solo homer in the first for Kellogg.
In the second game, Madie Thomas drove in five runs for St. Maries, Averie Baird went 4 for 5, Stewart was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs scored, and Brenna Elliott had two doubles and drove in three runs.
Bella Schillereff was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Kellogg.
