District 1-2 Match
BLANCHARD — The Kellogg Wildcats may not have finished exactly where they wanted at districts, but they’re headed to state, nonetheless.
After 18 holes, Kellogg found themselves tied with Genesis Prep for second place, but lost the single-hole playoff tiebreaker to the Jags at Stone Ridge Golf Course.
Priest River senior Palmer Coleman shot a 2-over par 73 to earn district medalist honors for the second straight year, leading the Spartans to the 3A District 1-2 title. Priest River, Genesis Prep, and Kellogg advanced to state May 12-13 at River’s Edge Golf Club in Burley.
The district match stayed with the current theme of the season, with razor-thin margins between the top teams. Wallace, which finished fourth, was just 16 strokes behind Priest River. Miner freshman Cooper Miller shot an 84 and qualified for state as an individual.
St. Maries senior Addison Crane was girls medalist with a 103.
Lapwai won the girls team title with a 490 and will be joined at state by Genesis Prep and Logos of Moscow.
