Michael Leo Marek Sr. (61) resident of Osburn, ID passed away at his home on November 30, 2018. He was born to Leo and Hazel Marek on February 22, 1957 in Fargo, ND. At a young age, Mike’s family relocated to the Silver Valley where his father went to work for Bunker Hill Mine. He grew up in Pinehurst, ID and graduated from Kellogg High School with the class of 1975.

Following high school he went to work up the Coeur d’ Alene River for Malloy Lumber. On December 14, 1979 Mike married Brenda Hamburg. The couple had 3 children Michael, Brandi, and Danyell. After 5 years the marriage ended in divorce. He later met and married Cindy Buckham. Daughter Mona came with the marriage, and Mike and Cindy had son Anton. This marriage also ended in divorce. Mike later went to work for Bunker Hill Mine and was a Miner for 30 years before retiring due to health reasons. On April 25, 2005 Mike married his childhood friend and 8 year companion Jodie Petersen.

Mike was a man’s man who enjoyed every aspect of life. He was always singing and smiling, and he never knew a stranger. He loved meeting people and would leave everyone by never saying goodbye, but always said see ya or be careful. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, or riding his side by side. Playing slot machines was also a favorite, and he never missed an opportunity to share his beer with visiting friends or family. He will be missed very much by his family and friends left behind, but it’s never a goodbye.
