‘Andy’ Jay Williams, 65
Andy was born on Nov. 2, 1953. to Melvin and Nadine (Williams) Johnson in Lewiston, Idaho. He was raised in Orofino, Idaho, by Faye and Art Williams. He married Patricia Mitchell in Pasco, Wash., March 16, 1973. They had three children: Naomi Strobel (deceased), Clifford Williams (Rathdrum) and Jayson Williams (Kellogg). Andy worked at Sunshine Mining Company, Bunker Hill Mining Company and Stillwater Mining Company. The family has lived in the Silver Valley since May 26, 1974.
Andy loved fishing, fabricating rock buggies, jammers and working on cars and trucks. His family ran a commercial wood cutting business for a while in the ’80s when times were lean. He was a loyal family man who loved to joke and loved his family, grandkids, and all the adopted Pinecreek kids who grew up with his kids.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James L. Johnson, Donald L. Williams and Willy Johnson; and his daughter, Naomi Faye Strobel. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pat Williams; children Clifford (Sarah) Williams of Rathdrum, Idaho, Jayson (Sheila) Williams and Dorrine Williams of Kellogg, Idaho; brother Dennis Williams of Orofino; sisters Juana Leigh Baker of Texas, Lovetta Reed of Texas, Susan Whitmire, Elizabeth Johnson of Yakima, Wash., and Mary Johnson of Iowa; stepmother Betty Johnson; sister-in-law Lessa Johnson; nephews Kevin and Chris Johnson of Pinehurst; and grandchildren Jaydee, Tyler, Daighla, Trynide and Jocelyn Williams. In addition, we added to the family a few years ago, Matthew, Taylor, Jaden, Abby, Hannah and Joshua Barber as grandchildren of Rathdrum; and Destiny, Sabrina Perkins and Elijah Banks of Kellogg. He has numerous cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the Northwest.
Andy will be missed for his gentle nature, his laughter, his love of family, Buggy riding, the outdoors, camping and guitar playing.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Pinecreek Tavern in Pinecreek outside Pinehurst, Idaho. A potluck will follow.
