WALLACE — Hailey Cheney had 30 points and 12 rebounds for the Wildcats as they rolled to a 67-33 win over the Miners at Kirby Krulitz Court last Thursday.

Cheney got going early with 14 points in the first quarter as the Miners had no answer for her blend of scoring and athleticism.

Kellogg brought an intensity on defense all night that the Miners struggled to play against.

Wallace freshman Jaden House was a bright spot in her own right as she scored 12 points for Wallace, which travels to Kootenai on Jan. 4.

Jaron Figueroa scored nine points for Kellogg, which faces Northwest Christian in the Freeman tournament on Dec. 27.

WALLACE — It wasn’t pretty at times, but the Miners continued their winning ways early last week when they hosted Bonners Ferry.

The usual scoring barrage that had become a staple for the Miners struggled early, but Wallace made up for it by playing lockdown defense.

Leading at the break 21-7, Wallace would do enough to keep the Badgers at bay while also rotating in several of their player off the bench.

Eric Brackebusch scored 24 points to lead the Miners, ranked No. 2 in 1A Division I in this week’s media poll, Zack Welch scored 19 points for Wallace.

Wallace 73, Clark Fork 43

WALLACE — The Miners struggled to keep the Wampus Cats at bay at first, but when they finally did things got a little ugly.

Clark Fork matched Wallace basket for basket until a Erik Brackebush jumper gave them a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish.

The biggest moment of the game came down to two possible plays.

Senior Zach Welch caught a lob from Brackebusch that he subsequently threw down with two hands, bringing the Miner crowd to their feet.

Then later in the game reserve player Gary Gunderson hit a jumper that drew a similar reaction.

In a game where every Wallace player scored, the Miners showed their offensive flair and dazzled the crowd with several fun moments.

Brackebusch finished with 24 points while Welch chipped in 18.

Wallace will resume play on Jan. 8, when they travel to Lakeside.
