The Thrifty Bridge in Wallace is now open for business and had a community ribbon cutting ceremony outside of their building on Wednesday afternoon.

The newest thrift store in Wallace is the brainchild of Bridge Community Center CEO Tommie Lewis, who’s plan is to use the store to fund many of the activities and programs that the Bridge puts on throughout the year.

“We opened here in Wallace so that we had a site on this side of the valley,” Lewis said. “We can do some outreach here and all of the funds we raise here go toward our various programs that we do during the year.”

The store sells everything, clothes, books, housewares, and some furniture at reasonable prices.

Due to their 501(c)(3) designation they are able to give tax exemption receipts for anyone who brings in donations and wants a receipt for it.

So far Lewis is happy with the response she has received from the Wallace community and thinks that having another location will help the Bridge Community organization reach more people throughout Shoshone County.

“Having this new site here gives us the ability to have the room to potentially do things like host another recovery group,” Lewis said. “We have already had guys sent to us as they are being released from the jail across the street and come over to get some things that they may need or they can use our public computers. This gives us a place where they can come and we can help them without there being the safety issue of a lot of children being around.”

The Thrifty Bridge is open from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is located 824 Bank Street in Wallace.
