Ricky Allen Raivio, 64

Ricky Allen Raivio, 64 passed away at his home in Osburn Idaho on Thursday April 6th, 2017. He was born November 18th 1952 in Ironwood Michigan to Charles and Irma Raivio. Rick and his younger sister Cindy, moved with their parents to the Silver Valley in 1964. The Raivio family home was up 2-Mile in Osburn Idaho. Rick graduated from Wallace High School in 1970.

After high school he served in the United States Air Frce as a sergeant and was stationed in Anchorage Alaska. Rick was married to Sherry Darst until 1987 and together they had 2 children; Corey and Christy Raivio.

The family moved back to the Silver Valley in 1975 and he began working up Burke Canyon at the Star Mine as an underground miner at the 8300 ft level, until the mine shut down.

Rick cherised time with his friends and family. He loved listening to all his favorite music. He enjoyed a hot cup of coffee, or a cold beer with friends. He really loved the Gonzaga Bulldogs and wouldn’t miss a mens basketball game.

Rick is survived by his father Charlie Raivio, sister Cindy (Carl) Loftsted, son Corey (Iris) Raivio, daughter Christy (Matt) Neal, grandsons Ethan Raivio and Benjamin Neal, and brand new baby granddaughter Charlotte Neal. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irma.

Cremation will take place and no services are planned.

The family suggests that donations in Rick’s memory can be made to Silver Valley Seniors Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 887, Osburn, Idaho 83849.
