The 2017 Silver Valley Showdown on top of Silver Mountain is set for this Saturday afternoon.

Boxers from all across the Pacific Northwest will be on top of the mountain for the third edition of the high elevation event for the Silver Valley Boxing Club. Adding to an already impressive list of fighters on this years stacked card, there will be three Silver Valley fighters participating the event which will give it a solid local feel.

Talon Rupp and Alex Corwin are both youngsters who will be repping their community.

In the semi-main event, the Silver Valley’s human highlight reel, Corey Bolle, will be fighting Andrew Murphy out of Yakima, Washington.

Silver Valley and Spokane Boxing coach Rick Welliver is also excited for the other half of the co-main event when Roman Avetsiyan will meet Billy Wagner.

“These are two exciting guys and they are going to put on a fun fight,” Welliver said.

This is becoming one of the premier boxing event in the Pacific Northwest as fighter from across the region literally fight for the right to be ‘king of the mountain.’

“People come here to compete,” Welliver said. “It gives people a chance to change their perceptions of North Idaho and to also say that they have boxed at 6,000 feet.”

That experience, Welliver believes, can be a game changer or a life and career highlight for some of the fighters who come from underprivileged communities and families.

“A lot of these kids come from families that don’t even own cars,” Welliver said. “They come here and we put them on the gondola and have them fight on top of a mountain resort. People absolutely love it.”

At this time, the fight card is as follows, but as always, the card is subject to change.
