WALLACE — It’s all things Huckleberry this Friday and Saturday in Wallace as the historic silver mining town celebrates its 32nd annual Huckleberry Festival and 5k Walk/Run.

Kids’ games, food and crafts vendors, pie eating contests, live music, magic acts, a giant book sale, Huckleberry Queen Contest, and a $500 cash prize raffle will take over Wallace’s downtown Aug. 18-19. Proceeds from the event go to support Shoshone Pet Rescue.

Starting at noon, Friday festival goers can enjoy live music, kids activities, and all the vendors from noon and into the evening both days.

The fun starts on Saturday at 7 a.m. at Wallace Jr./High School with the Rotary Club’s Huckleberry Pancake Breakfast.

The 5K Walk/Run gets underway at 9:00 a.m. at Fourth and Pine Streets with winners announced at 11:30 a.m.

Dick Frost will perform his Comedy of Magic Shows at 12:15 and again at 1:15 p.m. at Samuels Park, to be followed at 2 p.m. with the return of the popular Huckleberry Pie Eating Contest.

Wallace’s Historic Carnegie Library also joins in the fun with a giant book sale at the library both days.

The festival wraps up at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday with the crowning of the Huckleberry Queen and announcing the $500 cash raffle winners.

Portions of Cedar Street between Fifth and Seventh will be closed to auto traffic from 6 a.m. Friday until the festival ends Saturday evening.
