George Hiram Cornell, 83

George Hiram Cornell, 83 of Wallace, Idaho, passed away on August 13, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Silverton, Idaho. He was born February 19, 1934 in Fruita, Colorado; George was the son of Ray and Ruby (Seal) Cornell.

At a young age George moved with his family from Colorado to Bonners Ferry, Idaho. In his teenage years he then moved to Mullan where he began working at the Star Mine. George then went on to serve in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from the Army, George became a Pastor preaching in Iona, Spokane and Wallace. He then went on to work various jobs over the years. He was in basement construction, coal mining, owned a wood yard and worked security in Reno all before retiring. In his retirement he continued working as a tour guide at the Crystal Gold Mine.

In his free time George enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going fishing, hunting, picking huckelberries, ATV riding, singing, watching hummingbirds and other wildlife. George was best known for his sense of humor and loved making people laugh.

George is survived by his beloved wife Pauline; two children Tony (Robin) Cornell of Spokane, Washington and Alice Lar’Rie Cornell Carrier of Nevada; three siblings Victor (Yvonne) Cornell of St. Maries and Ben (Merrilyn) Cornell of Kanab Utah and Lois Owens of Silverton, Idaho; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rhonda, five sisters and two brothers.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday August 25, 2017 at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Following services a Pot Luck will reception will be held at the Gene Day Park in Osburn.
