Iery Eugene Geigle, 90
Iery Eugene Geigle, 90, of Osburn, Idaho, left us to be with our Heavenly Father on August 14th, 2017. Iery was born May 15, 1927 in McLaughlin, South Dakota to Henry and Lydia (Kunz) Geigle.
Iery spend his childhood working the family farm in South Dakota until he joined the US Army and proudly served his country during WWII in Japan. After being honorable discharged he married the love of his life, Ruth Huber on November 14, 1948 in Selfridge, North Dakota.
Together, Iery and Ruth bought their own farm in North Dakota and started raising their family. In 1955, they sold their farm and ventured to north Idaho where they finished building their family of 4 sons and 4 daughters who Iery referred to as his 4 Kings and 4 Queens. In Idaho, Iery worked for Gene’s Radio/Gambles Store, managed the warehouse for Coeur d’ Alene Hardware, and worked as a mechanic/welder at the Coeur Mine. After his retirement, Iery worked part time at Valley Building/True Value. Throughout his working years, Iery also built and operated the Osburn Wash-O-Mat and was known throughout the Silver Valley as a skilled appliance repairman.
Iery enjoyed square dancing, hunting, fishing, and cutting firewood, but he truly enjoyed family time.
Loving his community, Iery was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Osburn. He also enjoyed memberships in the Masonic Temple, Shriners, Eastern Star, Osburn VFW, Elks, and Eagles.
Iery is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ruth (Huber) Geigle; four sons, DuWayne (Sandy) Geigle, Arlen (Marian) Geigle, Rodney (ShaunaLee) Geigle, and Jim (Kim) Geigle; four daughters, Sharon (Arney) Wick, Karen (Barry) Pearson, Nila (Nick) Jurkovich, and Michelle (Jim) Walcker; three brothers, Herbert Geigle, Richard Geigle, Ervin Geigle; four sisters, Irene Hach, Delores Knuth, Mae Harris, and Darlene Hinson; twenty-two grandchildren, Cheri, Christine, Annette, Sharlene, Heather, Kurtis, David, Trina, Cole, Tyler, Joshua, Stephanie, Jennifer, Joe, Jessanne, Leslie, James, Chris, Matthew, Talesa, Brandon, and Janae; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; fifteen great, great-grandchildren. Iery was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lydia Geigle; one brother, Gilbert Geigle; five sisters; Elizabeth Huber, Alvina Tscherney, Lorraine Snyder, Violet Aman, and Elsie Huber.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19, at 11:00 am at Bethany Lutheran Church located at 1105 Mullan Ave., Osburn, Idaho 83849. Burial will be at Osburn Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Bethany Lutheran Church.
