Cheers to Brewfest 2017!
KELLOGG— Silver Mountain Resort has a history of providing its patrons with fun activities to do year-round.
From skiing and snowboarding in the winter to mountain biking and hiking in the summer, there is no shortage of things to do at over 3,000 feet in the air.
Who knew though that tasting and drinking craft beer could be something to do at the summit?
This Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m., the resort will be hosting their annual Brewfest atop Silver Mountain next to the ski lodge.
For over 20 years, Brewfest has been one of Silver’s biggest events that draws in anyone who enjoys an crafted alcoholic beverage.
After a three mile gondola ride to the top, beer lovers will have the opportunity to sample drinks from over 20 different breweries located across the northwest while listening to live music from some fantastic musical talent such as the Sara Brown Band and Soul Proprietor.
Local beer favorites such as North Idaho Mountain Brewing, Radio Brewing, and Wallace Brewing will be on hand in addition to breweries from as far away as California and Colorado.
So whether you simply want to enjoy your local favorite or branch out and try something new from a new place, Brewfest will have you covered.
Speaking of branching out, hard cider will also be on hand at the event for those who are not too keen on beer, but still want to enjoy the festivities.
This addition of hard cider to the 2017 docket is a first for the event.
One Brewfest ticket includes a gondola ticket, event access, a 2017 Brewsfest mug, and six tasting tickets.
Willy Bartlett, Silver Mountain’s Market Coordinator, says that this year’s event is set to be the best one yet.
“We want people to up and have fun!” Bartlett said.
Though he (and really everyone else attending the event) stresses that event goers should stay within their means and not get too carried away, Bartlett encourages attendees to try everything available and get the most they can out of Brewfest.
Talking about the opportunity this event provides to those who are not very familiar with craft beer and cider, Bartlett said that “there is a pretty good chance that they can find out what type of beer they like at Brewfest.”
In addition to the event, some of the more extreme beer lovers in the area will be participating in the Jackass Hill Climb, in which participants climb to the top of the mountain for the reward of cold beer.
