Wallace Retro Holiday Festival has successful opening weekend

WALLACE — The Wallace Chamber of Commerce's Retro Holiday Festival got off to a great start during its opening weekend.

The festivities began on Friday night and were well received by the residents according to festival organizer Anita Price.

“On Friday night, after visiting the craft fair in the Depot, the lighting of the Christmas Tree outside the Depot with the old train bell ringing was a real treat,” Price said. ”Then everyone walked or rode to the four churches and sang carols and at the last church everyone delighted in good conversation and refreshments.”

Saturday picked right up where the festivities left off Friday night.

The Santa Breakfast lead right into the Master and Miss Snowflake Pageant.

After some singing, Cameron McMillan was awarded the title of Master Snowflake and Scarlett Almquist was named Miss Snowflake.

Later that day, Santa arrived at the Depot on the fire truck and had pictures taken with the children.

The first weekend concluded with evening hayrides through the city of Wallace, where people could take in all of the festive decorations.

The second weekend of the Wallace Chamber of Commerce's Retro Holiday Festival will be:

FRIDAY, DEC. 8

Lighted Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. (lineup on Pine Street at 5:30 p.m.)
Hot Chocolate and light stick celebration at the Depot at 6:30 p.m.
Sixth Street Theater Christmas Show at 7:30 p.m.
Hayrides throughout residential and town from 6:30 through 7:30 p.m. (leave from Depot)

The Craft Fair at the Depot is open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, DEC. 9

PAW parade (Brooks parking lot) to Depot for Pictures with Pets at 11 a.m.
Pictures with Santa (and pets) 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
High Tea and music at 618 Bank St. at noon (call for reservations at 208-556-1500). 6th Street Theater Christmas Show at 2 p.m. and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Tree decorating with trains at the Depot, sing carols, and have a train story for both adults and children at 3 p.m.
Hayrides through residential and town from 5-7 p.m.
