Jams 4 Cans coming to Silver Mountain
Next month Silver Mountain will be hosting Jams 4 Cans, a snowboard and ski event that helps gather food donations for local food banks during their Jan. 5, Jackass Days event.
The event, put on by Summit Northwest Ministries, is in its ninth year and continues to get bigger and better.
“Jams 4 Cans is a rail jam series open to skiers and snowboarders with the goals of collecting food for local charities and promoting community awareness of their needs,” event director Caleb Foss said. “Over the last nine years we have collected thousands of pounds of food and raised thousands of dollars that were used by local banks to provide for some of the less fortunate in our area.”
This year they have expand the series to three events and will be partnering with two other mountains other than Silver Mountain.
The event will not directly affect the Silver Valley food banks, but since 2nd Harvest Food Bank is one that is benefited the Silver Valley will benefit indirectly, as several of the local food banks here receive food from 2nd Harvest on a regular basis.
Foss is excited that the event is growing and is hoping for a strong turnout from the local winter sports enthusiasts.
“We’re stoked to expand our brand and ability to inspire local riders to make a positive change in their local community,” Foss said. “We hope you’ll join us this year in giving local skiers and snowboarders and opportunity to use their skills to help build a stronger community.”
The event is also looking for varying types of event sponsors.
Sponsorship types can be anything from donating time, food, or money, as well as event volunteering.
