Emergency crews respond to Wallace house fire
WALLACE — Fire personnel with Shoshone County Fire District No.1 (SCFD1) and the Mullan Volunteer Fire District (MVFD) are currently combating a structure fire on Cypress St. In Wallace.
Firefighters have established hose lines on both the north and south sides of the structure with the goal of containing the blaze.
The home is surrounded on three sides by other structures and homes. Their close proximity to the affected home is a major concern for crews as they work to keep the fire from spreading.
The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) was first to respond Tuesday morning and initially assisted fire fighters with opening fire hydrants and ensuring everyone was safe.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the fire was started when the home’s owner attempted to warm frozen water lines in the basement when insulation ignited. The fire then spread to the bathroom/ kitchen area near the south side. It is unknown at this time what the home owner was using to heat the pipes.
With flames spouting out of all areas, it appears that the home will be declared a total loss. No injuries have been reported.
The Shoshone News-Press will release more information as it becomes available.
