William (Bill) A. Rice

William (Bill) A. Rice, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 19, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Bill currently resided in San Diego, and was born in Kellogg, Idaho.

After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Cook and U.S.S. Higbee; he retired after 20 years at the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He received the U.S. Navy commendation medal, the U.S. Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and the Vietnam Service Medal.

Bill and his business partner Chris Hartman started Post Haste Mailing Services. They grew the business for nearly 30 years, and sold it in 2012. Bill enjoyed golfing, travel and most of all, visiting his children and grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sayoko; his sister Vicki (Rice) Dale; children Bill (Erin) Rice, and Linda (Joe) Huelsman; and grandchildren Kenneth and Kira Rice and Rachel and Will Huelsman. Memorial services will be held at noon Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 at El Camino Memorial Park. Final resting place is at Miramar Military Cemetery.

Bill will truly be missed by his family and friends.
