WALLACE — Shoshone County Sheriff’s deputies took a suspected burglar into custody Tuesday morning after a foot pursuit in Wallace.

On Jan. 31, around 11:08 a.m., a Shoshone County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a burglary, not in progress, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Silverton.

The deputy found someone had gained access to the church by breaking a window.

Blood was found in places around the church, indicating the suspect may have cut themselves while breaking in.

The suspect had wiped most of the blood down inside of the building with bleach before leaving.

Church representatives reported only microphones had been taken.

The deputy located the suspect’s footprints and followed them from the scene to a residence in Silverton.

The residents of the house the footprints led to reported that an adult male they had not seen in six years arrived shortly before the deputy.

The residents said the male asked if he could stay with them, however, the residents not having been in contact with the male for six years, turned him away.

A short time later, the deputy made contact with an acquaintance of the suspect, who reported the suspicious male frequents the Wallace library to use the Wi-Fi. The deputy was able to locate a male near the Wallace Library, but when questioned, the male fled from the deputy on foot.

After a short foot chase, the male was taken into custody without incident.

Once deputies detained him, the male was identified as Logan Boumont, 26, of Worley, Idaho.

Boumont was found with a cut on his hand and his shoeprint was an exact match to those located at the scene.

In Boumont’s possession were microphones the church had reported as taken, gloves with a cut in them matching the wound on Boumont’s hand, and a vast array of suspected drug paraphernalia including pipes, spoons, baggies, and syringes.

In addition to Boumont being placed under arrest for his outstanding felony warrant, he was charged with burglary, malicious injury to property, obstructing and resisting an officer, and possession of controlled substance paraphernalia with intent to use.

Because of the proximity of the incident to Wallace High School, the school was temporarily placed into lockdown as a precaution.
