The Wallace Miners hosted the Kellogg Wildcats on Tuesday night for an impromptu Senior Night event at Wallace High School.

Miner seniors Stetson Crewdson and Brian Davis were honored with their families at the intermission of the event.

The mix and match style event was put together last minute by both the Wallace and Kellogg teams to allow the Mines to have an official senior night as well as get some of Kellogg's wrestlers some extra matches as both teams head into their district tournaments.

The Wildcats and the Miners split at the event going 3-3 each as Crewdson won both of his matches and Davis was able to get a big win in the final match of the night.

For Kellogg, Juddson Hall won both of his matches and Colby Ballard won one of his matches.

“We are very thankful that Kellogg helped us have this event tonight,” Miner coach Pat Waters said. “We are gearing up for districts so it was nice for us to be able to get a couple of matches in.”

As for his seniors, Waters was happy for them and expects to see big things from them at districts.

“Brian (Davis) has qualified for state the last two years for us, so we are looking for him to have a good weekend and qualify again this year,” Waters said. “Stetson (Crewdson) is in a tough weight class so he is going to have to wrestle really tough if he wants to qualify, but he is definitely capable.”

Kellogg coach Scott Miller was thrilled to be a part of the night, both for his team and for the Miners.

“Every kid deserves a senior night so I'm glad we could come,” Miller said. “It was good for our kids and I was pleased with how they wrestled. It was a fun night.”

The Wildcats will be in district competition this Saturday at Lakeland High School.

The Miners will be in district this Saturday at Grangeville High School.
