Ronald Eugene Sheppard, 85

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and companion, Ronald “Ron” Eugene Sheppard, 85, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away Jan. 28, 2017 at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg. He was born Sept. 2, 1931 in Eagle River, Wis.; Ron was the son of Leslie Ray and Marie Pearl (Young) Sheppard.

Ron attended Everett High School of Everett, Wash. He moved to the Silver Valley in 1949 from Everett.

Ron married Nina Marie Bruni on Aug. 23, 1951 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Nina passed away in 2003.

Ron had served as a miner and had worked at the Bunker Hill Smelter, the Bunker Zinc Plant and the Page Mine. He had also worked for the City of Kellogg Street department for 20 years, when he retired.

Ron was a member of the Kellogg Elks Lodge No. 1841 and a member of a Kellogg Mens Bowling League. He loved and enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing and jigsaw puzzles.

Ron is survived by one son, Peter L. and Shary Sheppard of Kellogg, Idaho; one daughter Rona M. and John VanDyke of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren, Angela and Kevin Reed, Ryan and Tori Sheppard, Dr. Ron and Tammy Sheppard, Jessica VanDyke and Madison Roach, Patrick and Leah VanDyke and Laura and Corey Sparks; 20 great-grandchildren; and his companion Yvonne Soto of Osburn, Idaho. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Nina.

Cremation will be held and a Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held and announced sometime this summer. Inurnment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg, Idaho.
