Son arrested for assault on father

WALLACE — The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reports that an elderly Kootenai County man was beaten and dumped in Shoshone County Wednesday morning.

Approximately 8:30 a.m., SCSO received a 911 call notifying them that a male subject was in distress in the Pine Creek area.

Once deputies and medical personnel arrived on scene a short time later, they found 77- year old Cecil B. Whiteshield alone and in need of medical assistance.

Whiteshield had sustained several injuries including severe trauma to his head.

He was quickly transported to Shoshone Medical Center by EMTs with Shoshone County Fire District No.2 where he was provided medical aid and later transported to another medical facility.

After an initial investigation into the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Whiteshield’s son, 44- year old William J. Whiteshield, also of Kootenai County, for aggravated assault.

W. Whiteshield was later found and arrested on the warrant in Montana.

His bond is presently set at $250,000.

The incident is still on going and being investigated by SCSO.
