SCSO recovers stolen vehicle, makes arrest
WALLACE— On July 24th 2017 at approximately 0823 hours, the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle near Commerce Drive out of Smelterville, Idaho. The victim stated he had parked his 2002 GMC Sierra truck near his work site when he suddenly noticed his vehicle driving away.
Approximately thirty minutes later, a vehicle matching the description of the stolen truck was seen parked in the trees near the area of the milepost 54 on Silver Valley Road. Upon arrival to the scene, the deputies were able to confirm that the truck located in the trees was the 2002 GMC Sierra reported stolen earlier.
Deputies, Sergeant Jared Bilaski and Deputy Ben Abshire, did an immediate search of the area and were able to locate and arrest the suspect, Jacob D. Russell, 26 years of age male, Kellogg, Idaho.
Russell has been charged with Grand Theft, Driving without a License and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
