How did the Kellogg All-Class Reunion cleanup day go?

To quote reunion organizer Lori Sawyer...

“Well I would say it went fabulous,” Sawyer said. “I’m still exhausted.”

The cleanup was a huge effort that saw Kellogg residents partner up with a group of teen volunteers from the Idaho Servant Adventures (ISA) group to make sure that popular Kellogg hot spots were spruced up before next month’s reunion.

“Several buildings on McKinley Avenue got painted including the one directly behind Teeters Field,” Sawyer said. “We also hung purple and gold lights and did some weed eating.”

Despite the work that was accomplished, there is still more than can get done before the reunion is set to begin.

“There is still weed eating to be done and garbage to be picked up,” Sawyer said, then chuckled. ”When you cut the grass, you discover a lot of garbage that needs to be picked up.”

Sawyer also mentioned how pleased and thankful she was for the kids from ISA for being there and was blown away by how helpful they were.

“What a great bunch of kids,” Sawyer said. “They actually thanked me for letting them help and were eager to do more. What a great example they were to all of us.”

ISA director Clint Kunze was thrilled with how the members of group got in and got involved, reinforcing the notion of thanks that echoed from the kids who were working.

“Lori (Sawyer) asked if we wanted to get involved and it was an easy decision,” Kunze said. “We had like 100 people that we sent to Kellogg. The kids had a lot of fun and it awesome to bless the folks in the community and it was so cool to be a part of the Kellogg All-Class Reunion.”

Sawyer received a lot of donations, not just in the form of time volunteering, but also from local businesses and business owners.

"Thank you to everyone who helped and donated we couldn’t have done it without them and the donations,” Sawyer said. “We had a lift donated by the Rental Store and Ken Adsitt donated his time and sprayer to us, Yokes also donated water and Ace Hardware donated tray liners and roller covers that day as well. I really love my community."

The Kellogg High School All-Class Reunion is Aug. 11 through 13.
