SMC announces new Chief Nursing Officer

KELLOGG- Shoshone Medical Center (SMC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Karen Mann, RN to the position of Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Karen began the position on April 10th after serving as Nurse Manager over both Emergency and Medical units.

She has worked at SMC for much of the past 22 years with ever increasing levels of responsibility.

Karen is replacing Beth Bates, RN who is transitioning to SMC’s Emergency Department nursing team. Beth has been with Shoshone Medical Center since 1996 and served as Emergency Department Director for many years before transitioning to CNO for the past 6 years.

Beth is confident handing the torch to Karen who is unwavering in her commitment to continued quality care.

Karen says, “I am excited to assume the role of Chief Nursing Officer at Shoshone Medical Center. I have been a team member here for many years and have held multiple positions.

I am a native of the Silver Valley and have seen many changes including those to local health care.”

Karen has worked at SMC for most of her career and has worked in many units including inpatient, intensive care, OB, addiction recovery, chemotherapy and most recently served as Nurse Manager for the inpatient and emergency departments.

“The hospital has changed throughout the years, but the Board of Directors, administrative team, and the staff continually strive to find the best ways to serve our community,” She added.

“Shoshone Medical Center is a positive and important part of our region. I am excited and honored to be a part of this great team and look forward to continuing to provide excellence in healthcare.”
