Beloved mother,

grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Aloma Valerio, 74, of Mullan, Idaho, passed away May 8, 2016, at her home in Mullan. She was born May 8, 1942, in Mullan. Aloma was the daughter of Albert and Bessie (Kirk) Valerio.

Aloma grew up and attended schools in the Silver Valley and lived there the majority of her life. She attended beauty school in Kellogg and went on to own and operate her own beauty salon in Mullan for many years. Aloma also worked as a cashier for Goodwill Industries. In addition to working hard in her business, she also raised five children.

Aloma loved playing music; she was part of a band with her previous husband, Charlie Newell, for several years and played for many occasions throughout the Silver Valley. She also enjoyed making jewelry, camping, fishing and hunting. The true highlight of her life and her greatest joy was her family. Aloma’s care and kindness for others showed in everything she did. She was very loyal, generous and kind, always willing to do for others before herself. Aloma was also a wonderful cook.

Aloma is survived by her beloved family: her sons, Rick (Debbi) Newell of Page, Idaho, and Ed (Ann) Newell of Eureka, Mont.; her daughter, Rusan (Mike) Walsh of Mullan; her sister, Darla (Richard) Adams of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Amber, Miranda, Jessica, Verl Jr., Tanner, Ashley, Mariah, Kayla and April; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Verl Newell and Able Murrietta; and her brothers, Dale and Vernon Valerio.
