Roy E. Peterson

Passed away Thursday June 15, 2017 surrounded by his wife, Renee and family. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Marlene Knotts; and two sisters.

Ron was born in South Dakota. He married the love of his life, Renee Karst in September of 1944. Roy and Renee raised eight children; Kathy Sprinkel (husband Gary deceased), Marlene Knotts (deceased), Terisa Morgan (Gary), Betty Rauenhorst (Rick), Royce Peterson (Gail), Vince Peterson (Billie), Denise Berg (Wayne) and Danny Peterson (Sue); 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Roy started work at the Page Mine in 1951 and retired in 1985. He also worked for the Pinehurst Water District. He served on the Shoshone Hospital Board. Roy was involved with mine rescue, including the Sunshine Mine Fire. Roy is a life time member of the Knights of Columbus.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday June 22, 2017 at 10:00a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg, Idaho. A Rosary service will be held on Wednesday at 7:00p.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Hospice of North Idaho in Hayden, ID, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
