Have you ever tried to be a good samaritan and help out a down-on-their-luck motorists who is broken down on the side of the road?

Now, when you tried to do the aforementioned kind gesture, did the motorists then threaten you with a gun?

Well that’s exactly what happened to 46- year old Wallace resident, Terry Bellinger, on June 27 when he was driving over Dobson Pass.

The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reports that Bellinger noticed a vehicle pulled off on the side of the road before noon on Tuesday and observed that the man in the vehicle was waving his arm out of the window.

Concerned about the man’s welfare, Bellinger stopped and began to back up.

As Bellinger got closer, 42- year old Umberto M. Caron of Wallace exited the vehicle and began to walk toward him while screaming profanities.

Caron then brandished a handgun and pointed it at Bellinger.

Bellinger began to flee the area after he saw the pistol.

As he left the scene, Bellinger told SCSO that he heard several gunshots.

Bellinger was not harmed and his vehicle was not hit by the gunfire.

After calling in the incident at 12:12 p.m., SCSO quickly tracked down Caron outside of his home and arrested him for charges of aggravated assault and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

Undersheriff Holly Lindsey says that Caron’s “vehicle was seized as evidence and a search warrant was carried out on it the next day.”

The search warrant did yield evidence of the crime, but details of the evidence have not yet been released.

Caron’s criminal history in Shoshone County includes multiple traffic violations, a second degree stalking charge, and disturbing the peace.

Bond is set at $50,000.
