Daniel “Murph” Joseph Murphy, 80

Daniel “Murph” Joseph Murphy, 80, of Kingston, Idaho, passed away February 27, 2017 at the Schneidmiller House of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He was born January 29, 1937 in Wallace, Idaho; Murph was the son of Joseph and Charlotte (Dolan) Murphy.

Murph has lived in the Silver Valley all of his life. He attended and graduated from the Wallace High School in 1955. Murph proudly served in the U.S. Army.

Murph married Rena Lavigne on October 15, 1963 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.

Murph had first served as a logger. He also owned heavy equipment of his own and served on personal and business construction projects throughout the Silver Valley. Murph had lastly worked for Zanetti Brothers, Inc. for 25 years, before he fully retired.

Murph was a member of the Wallace Elks #331 for 59 years, a former member of the Wallace Elks Drum and Bugle Corp and a member of the Teamsters Union. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife Rena, he loved working and working in his shop and gathering wood. Murph also enjoyed visiting with family and friends; he was loved by so many.

Murph is survived by his wife of 53 years Rena Murphy of Kingston, Idaho; 13 nieces and nephews; his cousin Pat Covill of Kellogg; Murph’s and Rena’s second family Peggy and Danny Figueroa and their sons of Kingston, Idaho. Murph was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Bernie Murphy.

A Celebration of Murph’s Life will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wallace Elks of Wallace, Idaho with Rev. Art Fleming officiating. A reception and a gathering of family and friends will also be held at the Wallace Elks following services.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Wallace Elks, 419 Cedar Street, Wallace, Idaho 83873, or to Hospice of North Idaho-Schneidmiller House, 9493 Government Way, Hayden, Idaho 83835, or to the charity of the Donor’s choice.
