Rescue crews have located 39- year old Jay Deming and his dog in the backwoods of Shoshone County near the Prichard/ Murray area.

Found by a Kootenai County Search and Rescue team near Clee Creek at approximately 12 p.m., Deming was found alive with undisclosed injuries.

Because of the remote region he was found in, Two-Bear Air out of Montana will be evacuating him by helicopter and taking him to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene.

Shoshone County Sheriff Mike Gunderson, who coordinated the search effort, reports that Deming’s family has been notified and he has been given new clothing to keep warm.

Deming was not wearing suitable winter clothes when he took his 11 month old Labrador “Nibbs” for a walk in the Lost Creek area around noon on Monday.

He has spent two full days in the wilderness after being reported missing at 6 p.m. that same day.

The search effort to find Deming was comprised of members from Shoshone County Search and Rescue (SCSR), Kootenai County Search and Rescue (KCSR), Kootenai County Backcountry unit, Two-Bear air, and the Civil Air Patrol from Coeur d’Alene (the Air Force auxiliary).

KCSR also used their Search and Rescue K9s to assist with the situation.

The crew that found Deming had a K9 with them, but it is unknown at this time if they played a role in his discovery

The Shoshone News-Press will continue to gather information on this developing story.
