Willard “Bill” Hershel Self Jr. 81

Willard “Bill” Hershel Self, Jr. 81, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away March 23, 2017 at the Schneidmiller House in Coeur d‘Alene, Idaho. He was born October 24, 1935 in Elk, Kansas; Willard was the son of Willard Self Sr. and Grace Richardson.

Bill attended and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1953. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean, and Vietnam Wars. Bill retired as a Command Sergeant Major, from the military after serving 35 years.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting and fishing. He was also a member of various clubs including the National Rifle Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks, Shriners Club, and was a lifetime member of the Mason’s.

Bill married Gaylene Scott and together they had five children. They later divorced. He then went on to marry Jeri Beadle, and together had one son; Jeri passed away in 1999.

Willard is survived by his six children, Michael Self of Kingston, Idaho, Luane Jeanette (Kim) Solum of Hood River, Oregon, Vincent (Caron) Self of Kellogg, Idaho, Roni Kay (Randy) Burt of Mountain Home, Idaho, Brian (Lana) Self of Osburn, Idaho and James (Tina) Self of Bloomington, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his Uncle James Otis Self and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Grace and Willard Self, his wife Jeri, and his sibling’s Richard “Dick“, Grace “Agnes“, Hazel, Nancy, infant twins Dale and Donald, Ruby, and Merlin “Pete“.

A gathering will be held at 2:00P.M. on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Broken Wheel in Kellogg.
