Dare to Imagine dinner honors volunteerism
On Tuesday night the Dare to Imagine Coalition (DTIC) held its volunteer appreciation dinner at Kellogg Middle School.
The cafeteria was a packed house as the various community leaders and volunteer groups were on hand to see the people who were being honored at the event.
Idaho Servant Adventures energetic director was the event’s MC and he kept the festivities moving according to schedule.
Kellogg School District superintendent Woody Woodford, who helped organize the event, thought it went very well and believes it will become an annual event.
“Last night's Dare to Imagine Volunteer Appreciation Dinner honored volunteers from each of the nine communities in the Silver Valley,” Woodford said. “The DTIC plans to make this an annual event in an effort to recognize the valued work of Silver Valley volunteers and encourage volunteerism.”
Following last night's dinner, 17 service groups from across the valley had informational tables so the people in attendance could get information about the organizations and sign up to volunteer in the future.
In 2014 the three Silver Valley school district partnered with the Silver Valley Ministerial Association and the Dare to Imagine Coalition was created.
DTIC brought the valley school districts, community members, organizations, businesses and churches together to provide a variety of supports to the children of our community.
One of DTIC roles is to identify volunteers, provide a summer enrichment camp for students and promote volunteerism.
Beside putting on an annual free youth summer camp, in October of 2016 DTIC was also involved with the Silver Valley Day of Hope.
