Head-on collision near Rose Lake injures one

Idaho State Police reports that on Friday, May 5 at approximately 1:30 p.m., an injury crash occurred on westbound I-90 at milepost 33, near Rose Lake that sent one to the hospital.

Michael Kottas, 34, of Missoula, Montana was traveling eastbound on I90 in a yellow 2008 GMC Savana van when he struck a large pothole, causing his tire to blow out.

Kottas then strayed into the westbound lanes of traffic and struck a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck head on, driven by 72- year old Dale Duncan of Spirit Lake, Idaho.

Duncan was transported to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho with undisclosed injuries and then transferred to Scared Heart in Spokane, Washington.

Kottas sustained minor injuries, but was not transported to the hospital by responding medical personal from Shoshone County Fire & EMS District #2.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the incident and one lane of travel was blocked for approximately three hours.
