Local juniors recognized
Last week the North Idaho high school principals honored the top scholars of the junior classes from each respective school at North Idaho College.
Mullan, Wallace and Kellogg were represented by their top juniors totaling 15 students from the Silver Valley.
As mentioned prior, the event was put on by the principals from the North Idaho High Schools who wanted to see the top 10 percent recognized for their hard work.
“This was a well deserved honor for these students,” Wallace Junior/Senior High School principal Chris Lund said.
Those sentiments were easily echoed by his contemporary at Kellogg High School.
“This was a great night to celebrate our top 10 percent in our junior class,” KHS principal Curt-Randall Bayer said. “It’s always a great night to spend with KHS students. I’m very proud of their accomplishments in and out of the classroom.”
With it only being the top 10 percent getting to attend, there is a minimum rule of two students per school, with Mullan Jr./Sr. High School being on the smaller side in terms of student enrollment, they had two students nominated to the event.
“This years Mullan Jr./Sr. High Top Scholars went to Terran Dykes and Kayleen Gribble and we couldn’t be more proud of them,” MHS principal Don Kotschevar said.
Joining Dykes and Gribble were, (from Kellogg High School) Colton Peterson, Joey Gibbs, Morgan Nusz, Ryan Morgan, Wolfgang Beier, Riley Fisher, Rylee Riekena and Kasside Wood.
From Wallace High School were Matt Farkas, Haylie Betham, Hunter Gust and Abby Berger.
