City Limits to host Peak into Summer BBQ

Old man winter certainly isn’t leaving without a fight.
The month of May has been filled with days of rain, cold temperatures, and even snow.
It’s safe to say that it has many in the Silver Valley a bit annoyed.
With the start of spring not going the way many of us planned (weather wise), it would be nice to have something that will remind us that summer is just down the road.
Thankfully, City Limits Brewpub in Wallace has you covered with the annual Peak into Summer BBQ on Monday, May 22.
Originally put on by former Enaville Snake Pit owners Joe and Rosemary Peak, the event has traditionally welcomed the summer season for over 30 years in the Silver Valley.
The event went through a tumultuous time after Joe Peak became ill, Rosemary passed away, and the Snake Pit closed temporarily several years ago.
Jumping between being held at Silver Mountain for a couple years and not even occurring for a couple more, City Limits stepped up and resurrected the event in 2015.
City Limits marketing director Diane Reifer explains that many individuals in and out of the community asked her to keep the event alive while she was coordinator with the Wallace Chamber of Commerce.
“When I got the job up at the pub, the owners asked me to come up with ideas on how to be more involved with the community...so I asked them if they wanted to do this.”
With the blessing of Joe and Rosemary’s son, Andy, the event went on and it was a big success with over 100 people in attendance.
With the Snake Pit reopened, the 2016 event was held once again at its original home in Kingston.
For 2017, the event is coming back to City Limits and is shaping up to be better than the one in 2015.
“It’s a great way for everybody in the community to find out what is going on,” Reifer said.
In addition to the BBQ, the event provides local businesses and organizations a platform to briefly talk about what’s new with them and what plans they may have for the summer season.
This speaking time is earned by donating a small raffle prize to the event.
The festivities will go from 5 to 7 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.
