Mullan Fire holds open house
New “toys” and safety awareness were the topics of conversation at Mullan Volunteer Fire Department’s (MVFD) open house held this last Saturday. Attendants of the event got an up-close look at what donations to MVFD go toward and were able to meet member of the fire crew.
MVFD Chief Patrick Nolan explained that “peoples the fire station doors down 99 percent of the time. If our station doors are open, we want people to come in, say, hi, and take a tour anytime!”
In addition to the department’s new refitted military water transport (check out the Shoshone News-Press’ article “Program grants new rigs to fire department” for more details on this), MVFD also showed off their new rigs, which looked nice next to the other vehicles the department had, including the oldest operating firetruck in the state.
Inside the firehouse, Chief Nolan and other volunteers informed visitors of the Ready, Set, Go program.
The program is about preparing your home for wildfire season and making your home more defensible to help fire fighters in a wildfire scene.
Things like clearing trees and brush away from your home and cleaning rain gutters to flying embers have no place to catch.
If you missed the open house, you will have another chance to check out MVFD during their annual Fireman Fun Festival on July 29 and 30.
