The Osburn Police Department (OPD) reports that 63- year Douglas Bell of Wallace, Idaho was killed over memorial day weekend as a result of a vehicle collision.

OPD and emergency crews from Shoshone County Fire District One responded to the intersection of 4th St. and Mullan Ave. in Osburn on Saturday at approximately 3:45 p.m. for a two vehicle injury crash.

Bell was traveling east on Mullan Ave. in a UTV side-by-side when he veered into the westbound lane of traffic and collided with a trailer being hauled by a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The point of impact with the trailer was near the driver’s side axle.

Due to the serious nature of his injuries, a life flight helicopter was dispatched to the scene to air lift Bell to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene for treatment.

Bell succumbed to the injuries he received in the crash at the hospital and the specifics of his injuries have not been released.

The two occupants of the pickup truck were unharmed.

OPD is conducting an investigation of the crash and it is considered ongoing at this time.

The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the incident.

The Osburn Police Department wishes to send their condolences to the family of Douglas Bell.
