Not huckleberries, Huckabee!

WALLACE — The little North Idaho town of Wallace has won many awards and been recognized nationally for its unique and historic charm over the years.
Its list of accolades is certainly a long one when you include everything from celebrity nods to placing in national rankings.
Adding to this list is another of the former — a kind mention from politician, commentator, author, Christian minister and talk show host — Mike Huckabee.
On his show, “Huckabee,” the former 2008 and 2016 GOP presidential candidate featured Wallace in a segment called “Our Kind Of Town” on Oct. 17.
“Did you ever wonder where the center of the universe is?” Huckabee asked, “Well you’re about to discover a place that claims that its in Idaho!”
The one minute and 16 second clip hit many highlights of the town, including its rich mining history, many festivals, and outdoor recreational opportunities.
These narrated highlights were accompanied by several photos of picturesque scenes that many locals would easily recognize.
After the clip, the host seemed mighty curious about hunting in the area.
Referring to the feathery animals shown in the clip, he asked his co-host with grin, “did you see those ducks in Wallace? I wonder if they’d let me go up there and hunt some of those ducks?”
To close the segment, Huckabee gave thanks to “Greg Marsh’s Wallace-id.com and the Wallace Chamber of Commerce for those beautiful pictures.”
Wallace was the second city featured in this segment, after Pie Town, New Mexico, and before Talkeetna, Alaska.
In an earlier episode on Oct. 9, Huckabee explained the point of this part of his show.
“This great land of America is filled with small, unique, one-of-a-kind towns that often get overlooked, yet they are the place that make this county so livable,” he said.
“We want to give credit to these special places in a segment in our show that we simply call ‘Our Kind Of Town,”
Huckabee’s show airs on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), a Christian faith based company whose mission is, “to use every available means to reach as many individuals and families as possible with the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
