Most of the silent auction items matched the theme of the event, as did the balloons.

WALLACE — The Shoshone County Cancer Support Corporation (Cancer Corp.) will be receiving an incredible donation after Oct. 21’s “Save the Tatas” Party- which included a silent auction, gourmet cupcakes, a mystery wine pull, and most notably a live auction featuring lavishly decorated bras and wreaths.

The Cancer Corp. is an organization here in the Silver Valley that helps support cancer patients by providing gas vouchers for their frequent trips to the cancer treatment facility, often several times per week.

Reducing the fuel bill offers one less thing to worry about for those fighting for their lives.

The Cancer Corp. has grown so much in the last few years that they are now able to offer prescription vouchers as well.

Many of the Cancer Corp. workers are cancer survivors, so in addition to financial assistance they also provide an unmatched level of empathy.

This year’s party, which was held at the Wallace Inn, saw many new faces.

“Our goal was $4000, which we hit right on the button” Tata’s committee member, Aubrey Stovern said.

The party started with off pretty mellow with guests browsing the silent auction tables and visiting, but it wasn’t long before rivalrous bidding and laughter filled the room.

The live auction held decorated bras and wreaths that were made and donated by various local crafters.

Some were beautiful, others were funny.

All were made with love and one goal in mind.

The bidding war that brought in the highest price tag of the night came from an age old rivalry between Kellogg and Wallace.

One bra featured the Kellogg Wildcat colors of purple and gold, the other red and black to represent the Wallace Miners.

As the two went head to head, alumni from both ends of the valley cheered on the bidders of their respective undergarments.

It was an exciting matchup and in the end Wallace took the win.

Aubrey Stovern, April Angle, Kelsey Schultz, and Bonnie Slater would like to thank everyone that decorated bras and wreaths, donated auction items, and attended the 2017 Tatas Party.

They also appreciate Rick at the Wallace Inn for the great venue.

With the community’s help this small committee was able to once again make a huge impact for an invaluable cause.
