Veterans Day thank you
I have been Deputy Clerk for the Shoshone County Board of Commissioners for nineteen years and the Shoshone County Veterans Service Officer the past eight years.
I assist veterans with filing claims and applying for benefits as my schedule allows during my work week with the Commissioners.
I have become good friends with many of the Veterans in our area, and the past several years have been some of the most rewarding work in my career.
Thank you to John Gold, Joe Wallace, Gary Sieg, Ernie McKay, Bettie Anderson, and Dan Price for their volunteer service in driving the county van and getting veterans to their medical appointments this year.
Many of our local veterans have no way to get to the VA facilities for needed treatment.
They may be on a fixed income and the cost of transportation is just too high and/or they have no other resources for transportation.
This fiscal year we were able to get veterans to 81 medical appointments, and many would not have been able to make it without these volunteers and their dedicated service.
Thank you to the County Commissioners for allowing me to serve our veterans as the Veterans Service Officer – it is a privilege and a pleasure.
To all of our veterans past, present and future, God bless you and thank you for your service and commitment to our great nation.
