Spirit is at an all time high at KHS

It was a week for the ages at Kellogg High School, as homecoming fever swept through the student body and staff at KHS.
With the Wildcats in the midst of a culture change, it was a great week to show just how much school spirit had improved.
The KHS Leadership Class scheduled a week of fun activities and themed days, and each one seemed to be better than the last.
“Homecoming week went really well this year,” leadership teacher Kelton Enich said. “We had record turnout for the movie night on Monday with over 70 kids. We also had a great and lively turnout for the volleyball fun night and powderpuff football game.”
That particular powderpuff game was actually more thrilling than the homecoming football game itself as the senior/freshman team won in overtime 14-7 with over 100 people in the stadium watching.
The themed days were sights to behold, but there were definitely a few that stood out as well as being all inclusive for the entire student body.
“I think the highlight days were the Rock n' Roll and Babies vs. Boomers,” Enich said. “Our leadership team did an incredible job decorating the school and recognizing all the teams and clubs. Each of the class hallways were decorated for a different season by the classes themselves.”
The final day of homecoming was a sight to behold, as the rain fell the school spirit literally dripped from the students during the homecoming parade.
“According to some of the more tenured teachers and students it was the most lively pep assembly we've had in a few years and even the parade with its detour down Bunker was a great success,” Enich said. “The spirit at the school this year seems to be a lot higher than last year.”
There are a lot of reasons for the rise in spirit, but one of the easiest things to pinpoint is the football team has given the student body a renewed sense of pride.
“I think the wins for the football team helped bring Wildcat spirit up, as well as making the Friday night game and homecoming dance really successful events,” Enich said. “The football team dominated Priest River and the packed crowd was loud and energetic.”
With all of the pomp and circumstance of homecoming, the crowd was treated to a very romantic moment when real-life couple Ryan Morgan and Sierra Rice were named homecoming king and queen during the halftime of the game.
