We are making progress on road paving associated with the City of Kellogg’s Sewer Rehabilitation and Replacement Project.

While more paving is planned, the weather will dictate how much more will be done and when it will happen.

Phase 2 construction continues with a crew moving north on Sunset Street off Mission Avenue towards Howard and Elder Avenues installing sewer main.

When they reach Elder, they will move to Caledonia Avenue and continue to install sewer main. Work in this area is expected to take at least a couple of weeks.

A second crew is working on Mission Avenue connecting sewer services.

They will then move east towards Hill Street on Mission installing mainline sewer.

Once completed, they will return to Chestnut Street and begin installing water line on Mission moving east towards Hill Street.

A third crew is finishing water service connections on Chestnut north of Mission Avenue.

The road crew will begin preparing Chestnut north of Cameron for paving as soon as the water service work has been completed.

Presently, and only if the weather allows, Chestnut and that part of Riverside Avenue that has been disturbed by the sewer project will be paved yet this fall.

Phase 3 construction on McKinley Avenue is wrapping up for this season with paving being placed from the western edge of the project eastward. McKinley Ave should be paved by the time you read this, but if there is a delay it will be paved during the next break in the weather.

The mainline sewer crew will now move to the area along the Rails to Trails near the Silver Mountain parking lot and continue there with underground utility work until winter shut down.

Once again, thanks for all your patience.

Please drive slowly in construction zones and watch out for young children playing in the area.

Anyone needing special assistance related to the project or who may have questions or concerns may contact Mr. Craig Lewis, Superintendent of Public Works at 208-786-9131.
