Pinehurst City Council candidate: Larry Yergler
Larry J. Yergler is running for one of two open Pinehurst City Council positions and he believes that, if elected, his job as councilman should be to serve the citizens while maintaining an open door policy to all residents.
“I will work to protect your property rights and work hard to minimize government regulations in the lives of Pinehurst residents.”
Yergler is running against incumbent Nancie Burkhart and challenger Jeremy Groves.
He has been married to Linda Yergler for 31 years, and he has two adult children and one grandchild.
His education background includes graduating from Kellogg High School in 1966 and then earning a B.S. in education at the University of Idaho in 1976.
In terms of serving his community, Yergler says that he is a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the National Ski Patrol at Lookout Pass, a member of Shoshone County Search & Rescue for 20+ years, a Pinehurst-Kingston Lions member, and a former youth coach for Basketball, Flag Football, Little League, and Babe Ruth Baseball.
He believes that, in addition to his community service, he has held positions in the past that qualify him for the position he is running for.
These positions include: Pinehurst Planning and Zoning Committee from 1988-2009, Shoshone County Commissioner from 2010-2014, Chairman from 2013-2014, District Magistrate Commission from 2013-2014, Shoshone County EMS Board, Basin Environmental Improvement Commission from 2013-2014, and Community Forest Coalition from 2010-2014.
Yergler explains that the main priority associated with city councilman is “balancing the budget while providing essential services to city residents, keeping the taxes at a minimum, developing positive growth of Pinehurst through future planning, and most importantly minimizing government regulations in the lives of our citizens.”
