SCSO: Homeowner holds burglar at gunpoint until police arrive
WALLACE — When the cops aren’t readily available, sometimes you have to take care of things yourself until help arrives.
The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reports that Jennifer D. Woll, 36, of Pinehurst was arrested on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 26 after she was held at gunpoint by the owner of a home she was attempting to burglarize.
The homeowner, a 39- year old male, first suspected something was wrong after he received a phone call that morning from his wife telling him that their dog was missing.
After enlisting the help of Sheriff Mike Gunderson, the dog was located and the homeowner returned to his residence.
Upon arrival though, SCSO Undersheriff Holly Lindsey explained that he noticed some of his property laying in the backyard.
“He then went to investigate and that’s when he found the suspect,” she said.
Woll was caught trying to steal miscellaneous power tools, hand tools, a flat screen TV, and some propane tanks that she found in the homeowner’s unlocked garage.
To keep her from escaping the scene, the homeowner drew a firearm on Woll and quickly called Sheriff Gunderson to report the theft (who he had just been with earlier that morning).
The homeowner neglected to mention to Gunderson though that he had the suspect detained.
Gunderson then called Pinehurst deputy Patrick Rowe, who responded to the residence on Sunset Drive at 7:31 a.m., less the five minutes after the initial call.
Rowe, a bit surprised by what he walked into, found the two individuals and immediately detained Woll while he investigated further.
Woll was later taken into custody and charged with Burglary and Attempted Grand Theft.
Her intentions for the stolen items, whether it be personal use or other, are currently under investigation.
SCSO also said that it is unclear at this time if she was responsible for the homeowner’s dog getting out.
According to the Idaho Repository, Woll was arrested and found guilty of Unlawful Entry in April of this year.
